Step 1: Clean your shoes.
Step 2: When they're all clean, wipe the soles with acetone a few times to remove the factory gloss that the shoe comes with.
Step 3: Apply leather dye to the shoes. Mylles & I didn't do that the first couple of times. Yes, I said "the first couple of times." We re-painted the shoes & worked on them three times. Ugh. Our shoes kept cracking because we didn't put the leather dye on first, & the paint kept stripping off, & the white sole was starting to become visible again, so we had to wipe the soles down with acetone & take off the paint (which was a bitch to remove), & we had to start all over again.
Step 4: Start painting! Mylles & I did four coats of paint on our shoes. We did each coat a little heavier each time, & after each coat, we let the shoes dry for 30 mins.
Step 5: After the fourth & last coat dries, apply the acrylic finisher on to the shoes with a towel or old sock or something. Don't press too hard. Just to be safe, Mylles & I waited 24 hours before applying the acrylic finisher. We didn't apply it until the next day.
Step 6: Change the laces, & then you're done!
Note: The Angelus paints already come in with a built-in brush in the cap, but that's not what we used to paint the shoes. That's where that flat brush from Michael's that we bought came in.
When we were scrubbing our shoes down with acetone, Mylles accidentally scrubbed the chrome off of his "Boost" logo, & he didn't wanna leave it black, so I painted it red for him. For his red boost logo, I just bought red paint from Angelus & a brush with a super thin ass end from Michael's. Your brush needs to be hella fuckin' thin if you want to precisely paint the logo in the lines without fuckin' up, & you need a really steady hand.
If you guys are wondering how our shoes are doing, they've been perfect! Ever since the third & last time we painted them (which was in September 2014) & followed all of the steps correctly, our shoes haven't cracked at all. Mylles wears them to work all the time, I even work out in mine sometimes when I go to the gym, & we both wore ours all winter long in the rain.
